We started Karns & Noble because too many students were handed an app and called it tutoring. These four principles shape every class we teach—and every student we send into the exam room more prepared, and more confident, than they walked in.

Every class is taught by a certified ELA educator—never a script, an app, or a part-time tutor working from a manual.

We teach the SAT Reading & Writing section and nothing else. That focus is exactly why our students improve.

Donation-funded scholarships keep cost from deciding who gets great prep. Education should open doors, not gatekeep them.

Two teachers who wanted better for students.

Rachel Karns and Christine Noble spent years in English classrooms watching capable students stumble on the SAT—not for lack of ability, but for lack of strategy and confidence. The big test-prep options felt impersonal and overpriced.

So they built the thing they wished existed: small, warm, genuinely effective Reading & Writing classes taught by real teachers. That work grew into school partnerships, too—helping educators create lasting, measurable change.
