WHY IT MATTERS

A great essay is leverage.

In a stack of similar applications, the essay is where a student becomes a person. Here’s how we make yours count.

01

Essays decide close calls

When test scores and GPAs look alike, admissions officers turn to the essay to find the student who fits. A strong one tips the decision.

02

Taught by real teachers

Rachel Karns and Christine Noble are veteran ELA educators. They know what compelling writing looks like—and how to draw it out of a nervous teenager.

03

Your student’s voice, not ours

We never write it for them. We guide, question, and edit so the final essay sounds unmistakably like your student—only sharper.

04

Built for every application

One strong personal statement becomes the backbone for supplements and scholarship essays too—so your student’s story works across the whole application.

HOW WE WORK

From blank page to polished draft.

A clear, supportive process that takes the dread out of the most important paragraph your student will write.

01

Brainstorm & find the story

We start by mining your student’s experiences for the moments that actually reveal who they are—then choose the one worth telling. The hardest part, made manageable.

02

Outline & structure

We shape the story into a structure that holds an admissions reader’s attention from the first line, with a clear arc and a reason to keep reading.

03

Draft with guidance

Your student writes; we read. Targeted feedback on voice, specificity, and flow turns a rough first draft into something that sounds like them at their best.

04

Polish & finalize

Line-level editing, tightening, and proofreading—plus help adapting the essay for the Common App and each school’s supplements.

Great essays are revised, not written.

The best admissions essays almost never arrive on the first try. They get there through questions, Why did that matter? What were you actually thinking?, that pull a vague memory into a vivid, specific scene only your student could write.

Because a real English teacher is reading every draft, your student isn’t guessing at what’s working. Each round sharpens the voice, tightens the structure, and cuts what doesn’t belong until the essay sounds effortless.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Quick questions.

Still wondering about something? Contact us, a real teacher will answer.

Which essays do you help with?

The Common App personal statement and school-specific supplemental essays, including the “why this school” prompts. We help students build a set of essays that work together.

Do you write the essay for my student?

Never. Admissions essays have to be authentic. We brainstorm, coach, and edit so the writing is genuinely your student’s—just clearer, tighter, and more compelling.

When should we start?

The summer before senior year is ideal, but we can help any time before deadlines. The earlier we start, the more rounds of revision we can fit in.

How are sessions run?

Online or in person, scheduled around your student’s week. Most students work through brainstorming, drafting, and editing across several sessions.

Can this be combined with SAT prep?

Absolutely—many families pair essay support with a Reading & Writing course. Strong writing skills help on both fronts.
